The Start of Something Good by Jennifer Probst

Synopsis:

An enriching story of family ties, broken hearts, and second chances from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

When Ethan Bishop returns to the Hudson Valley, his body and spirit are a little worse for wear. As a former Special Forces paratrooper, he saw his fair share of conflict, and he came home with wounds, inside and out. At his sisters’ B & B and farm, he can keep all his pain at a safe distance. But quiet time isn’t easy when a fiery woman explodes into his life…

It’s business—not pleasure—that brings Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush reluctantly to the farm. Tightly wound and quick tempered, Mia clashes immediately with the brooding Ethan. Everything about him is irritating—from his lean muscles and piercing blue eyes to his scent of sweat and musk.

But as the summer unfolds and temperatures rise, Ethan and Mia discover how much they have in common: their guarded histories, an uncontrollable desire, and a passion for the future that could heal two broken hearts. But will their pasts threaten their fragile chance at a brand-new future?

I discovered Jennifer Probst years and years ago somehow and have never been sorry to read her books.  I love her stories so so much and every time I read one, I think this one is my favorite.  The Start of Something Good might be my favorite.

Ethan Bishop comes home to help his sister’s out with their bed and breakfast, animal sanctuary, all around vacation dream in NY.  Mia Thrush, a public relations guru from NYC ends up at the bed and breakfast to keep an eye on her major client’s daughter for the summer.  She hates the country, hates Ethan and really kind of hates the assignment.  But of course, all of that changes once she gets to know who Ethan is underneath all that gruff exterior.

With fun and down to earth characters, a chicken named Hei Hei and the farm of my dreams, Probst weaves a dynamic story of love and finding a place for one’s self despite the circumstances.  Each book in this series will be a standalone, focused on each Bishop sibling.  I cannot wait for Ophelia’s book, partly because I need to know what Hei Hei is up to next.

The smut factor isn’t too high, the romance is sweet and the banter is perfect.  Definitely a favorite.
